“Fragmented” is an exploratory exercise into microsampling and reappropriating noises into new musical forms. Heavily inspired by the fragmented nature of our daily lives and consumption, the work aims to assemble the source sounds into an interplay of noise and polyphony.
Disembodied voices and amplifier crackles form the basis of the work, feeding back on itself to repeatedly build and dissolve while leaving behind traces of energy and melody. Temporal variations of the tape impart the oft-missed dynamic to the live recording’s imperfections, contributing a different perspective to the clinical world of electronic music.
The album is available directly as well as through major digital retailers
A limited edition on cassette was made available in April of 2016. Each of the 10 copies represents a generation away from the original recording, imparting the tape a unique distortion and flutter pattern.
